Meet Our Administrative Team
Brannon Jones, attended Albany State University where he received his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, was a very active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and a member of the 4-Year SIAC Championship Albany State Golden Rams Football Team. Upon graduation, his former principal allowed him to teach for a year. This is where Brannon fell in love with the process of education. He started his Master’s Degree in Public Administration, concentrating in Adult Education and a new career in higher education on the same day. He was on a quest to gain as much experience as he could. Professionally, Brannon has experience in college admissions, recruitment, student services, retention and Title IX. Brannon is a charter member of the Newnan-Fairburn Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He is also the proud to be the 2019 Education Author of the Year for his College Readiness 101 Workbook Series.

India Cabrera is an Atlanta transplant via the Bronx, NY. She received a full-tuition scholarship through the Posse Foundation to attend Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, where she received her Bachelors degree in English and Art History. Upon graduation she began her career as a student advocate, employment coordinator, and sex education facilitator at the Harlem Children's Zone. She is very creative and spends a lot of her free time painting and completing interior design projects. She is currently seeing the world one flight at a time as a Flight Attendant with Delta Airlines.
Charles Howard received his Bachelors in Business Administration from Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC, where he also played collegiate football. Soon after graduating, Charles started his career as a HR Generalist. Charles furthered his education with a Masters in Human Resource Management and a Masters in Management from Troy University. He quickly gained enough experience to take a position with multiple state agencies. Currently, Charles is the Assistant Director of Career Services at Clayton State University.

Andrea Powers is a Business Professional in the area of IT Project Management. Andrea received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Prairie View A & M University in 2007. She attended Mercer University Atlanta where she completed a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Marketing and Communications in 2016. Andrea is a first generation college student and works to ensure other students get the same opportunities that were awarded to her. She believes in hard work, perseverance, and purpose. She provides data insight, project management, communication, and other valuable skills to Next Step.
Paul Larkin graduated from Albany State University majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry completing undergraduate studies in the spring of 2012. Paul is currently employed by Quest Diagnostics as a Forensic Scientist performing analytical drug screenings in a forensic toxicology based laboratory. Public Health has become his focal point allowing his desire to incorporate the wellness of minorities and underserved communities into his career. His long-term interests are to complete graduate studies in the Behavioral Sciences & Health Education branch of Public Health in pursuit of becoming a college professor. He is a member of the Newnan - Fairburn Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., where he is the Chair of the Healthy Kappa Initiatives.

Jacquetta Lindsey is a Healthcare Science Teacher with DeKalb County Schools. She is also a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the Wellstar Health System. Ms. Lindsey received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Pre-Pharmacy from Auburn University in 2007. She attended Georgia State University and received her Master of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Cardiopulmonary Sciences in 2012. Ms. Lindsey has been a dedicated healthcare professional for over 5 years. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In her spare time, Ms. Lindsey enjoys singing at her church, painting, Pilates, and reading. Her true passion is helping students not only get accepted into college, but graduate from college. She looks forward to facilitating students on their way to finding their passion and purpose.

Dhakiyya Waterman received her Bachelors in Psychology from THE Alabama State University where she was a very active student. She held membership in the Psychology club, Hornet Fanatics, TRIO and Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity Inc. throughout her time as a student. Dhakiyya furthered her education at Argosy University obtaining a Masters in Community Counseling. Her professional experience includes providing therapy to youth, many who are victims of abuse/neglect, youth development activities and serving Georgia’s foster youth population through her current position as an Employment and Training Specialist with the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services.
Meyuna Shepherd, is currently a college recruiter at a growing institution in the heart of the city, where she uses her innovative skills and diligent but gregarious personality to help students set, pursue and obtain their higher educational goals. A graduate of the University of West Georgia and Argosy University, Meyuna honed in on her talents, becoming a national certified counselor. Meyuna is credited with helping students auspiciously transition into “life after high school”. When Meyuna isn't helping her students, she is busy being a daughter, God-Mom, auntie, sister, line sister (oo-oop), small group leader, missionary, avid traveler, ministry servant, friend and arguably one of her favorite of these--a couch potato.
