How Can You Get Involved?
Next Step is a non-profit organization that is here to be a resource as well as a liaison to resources for our students and parents. A lot of times students miss out on great opportunities simply because they were not afforded the information.
With your help, Next Step plans to change that!
Students & Parents
If you are interested in participating in a program that will assist you in your college acceptance... you should consider Next Step Education Foundation.
As you can see, we are focused on our students matriculating successfully from high school through college. We understand students today have a lot of obligations and reposibilities they are committed to. However, if you put in the time to complete a Next Step program, it will be well worth it. Our program is designed to make you think. It forces you to learn about your options and take control of your future. Through this program you will be better equipped to negotiate the processes of college admissions, college life, and college graduation.
Parents also need to look at Next Step Education Foundation for an understanding of the current educational atmosphere. Tutorial parents can assist us by ensuring their child is committed to the program. We cannot guarantee improvement for a student who is not committed to the process. Our College Experience parents will get a chance to learn about the "ins and outs" of the college application processes, financial aid, and college selection through attending workshops with their student. We believe that it is very important for parents to be involved in every aspect of their child's preparation for college.
Tutors
Educators are the life blood of this organization. Without our teachers and tutors, Next Step would not be able to offer the vital services the students need to be competitive in the educational arena.
We are continuously looking for qualified educators to serve as tutors and make our tutorial and test preparation program dynamic and effective. Next Step values educators that can (1) assist our students in making it to the next level by becoming proficient in their particular subject area, (2) give our students the confidence needed to be successful in class, and (3) be available to give parents an understanding of their child's educational strengths and weaknesses.
For those qualified teachers who have the time and the will to go beyond the school day, we have an opportunity for you to continue your calling. For those who are looking to get into education or may have proficiency in a subject area, we have an opportunity for you to assist students in reaching their academic goals.
Volunteers
Since we are a nonprofit organization we wouldn't be successful without volunteers like you!
Individuals seeking an opportunity to give back to the community by helping students achieve their educational goals should consider Next Step Education Foundation. We are seeking individuals who can volunteer their time, resources, and donations to the success of our students.
Our volunteers will have the opportunity to mentor, educate and connect with our students in a way that some students may not get at home. We are seeking volunteers for our tutorial and college experience programs.
Tutorial volunteers will have to pass the Next Step Subject Assessment for the subject he/she wants to tutor. The College Experience volunteers will help us with college fairs, college visits, and polishing our soon to be high school graduates.
Please keep in mind that ALL tutors and volunteers will have to pass a background check to work with our students, unless you are already a certified teacher.
